Thanks for this post. Let me offer a slight counter opinion.

Thanks SpongyandBruised!

This is honest astonishment: I have the highest rated comment? I rarely come on this board, and don't really have enough time to follow up on stuff. Right now I'm a graduate student and a father-to-be, so, other than occasionally reading the excellent commentary from the real regulars and (rarely) posting my thoughts,

I may be naively optimistic, but I've got to hope that they're expecting more people to watch Fallon because of the POTUS and are therefore promoting community.

Anybody watching Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? The news on twitter is that President Obama just "slow jammed the news" with Jimmy. It wasn't bad - more a policy speech than the regular (if you watch Jimmy Fallon) "slow jam," but still fairly hilarious.

I think your read on his being "the most accurate" — as I perhaps wrote perhaps too quickly in my enthusiasm — because of the small pool is dead on. The pool is too small. And his depiction is the best, I think, even if, as others have pointed out, the writers are bordering on making Abed a caricature.

I do hope people also read Loki100's responses to my posts. I'm reacting as a person who has experienced someone with Asperger's for a few months, but who does not have it himself. If Loki sees the portrayal as somehow "off," I'd be inclined to balance my experience heavily with his.

On Abed Being a "dick":

Dan Harmon? Is that you?

Just to introduce myself, as long as we're doing this. I'm not a frequent commenter here, but am becoming more of one as the days pass. The name comes from the fantasy character from C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia. Here's my rationale (taken from a blogpost once upon a time when I wrote this all down):

Tangentially, may I say "congrats" to the stalwarts of this comments thread. This is only my 7th (now 8th) comment on AVCLUB. All of them have been on this thread. I only comment occasionally, as I usually don't have anything substantial to say and I don't like being filler. Nevertheless, I lurk a lot and am always

"Cool. Cool, cool, cool" has become regular parlance 'round my household. My wife is four months pregnant. We're betting that this will be our baby's first words. I wouldn't mind.

Community Valentine's Day Cards anyone?

Well sure, on the chloroform scale, this is pretty great. On the life scale, on the other hand…

I'd have to say the custodian from "Accounting for Lawyers." But that might be a pity vote for getting chloroformed twice.

Wait, this wasn't for national, lower-zone semis?

I'm constantly refreshing the page, trying to make sure I don't "miss" the moment. Meanwhile, I should be studying…

I think this is a key theme of the season. Troy has to make decisions (air conditioning or not?). This is part of John Goodman's reason for guest starring this season, right? The only member of the group with whom he's interacted in a significant way has been Troy. But Troy doesn't really want to face these decisions
