Surprised you didn't bring up the whole fuck-up with timeline, how setting the movie up in 2012 means that Daddario's character would have to be in her 40s. Clearly no one put too much thought into it.

Dean and Cas were sucked into Purgatory, and he didn't have the means to open a gateway there, so I believe that he believes that there was nothing he could do.

I'd skip it, like Bipolar Man said it's mostly just half-assed remakes of season one and two episodes, although with a slightly more active John Winchester.
