ahhh, dear zachary has "watch it now" status on netflix, and my friend recommended it, but if it's anywhere near as sad as grave of the fireflies, I don't know if I can handle it. I don't think you recommend grave of the fireflies, I think you trick people into watching it. Because it fucking breaks your heart. I

    @Buck Stagg
Paprika is an amazing, overwhelming piece of work, but it might be too much for an introduction to the genre. Like Akira, it's confusing because it's saying so much. But it was one of my favorite movies of 07, and it should be fun for av club types who like to dissect a movie rather than dismiss it as

this is great, I hadn't thought of it like that, but it makes such sense. When john tries to kill himself at the end, maybe it's because he realizes what he's been doing all along, and he couldn't do it to walt, and it shook him bad.

Maybe it's just because I thought Juliet looked amazing tonight, but I thought her and Sawyer had great chemistry too… it makes me wonder what I was missing. Sawyer and Kate were at ease with each other, helping each other, teasing each other, bettering each other… what did I miss?

    burning airlines
Did anybody else almost wear a burning airlines shirt to the airport in the wake of 9/11? As a brown guy with a beard, I just stopped wearing the shirt altogether.

i read the first issue of scott pilgrim, and it did nothing for me. Does it get better? So many people recommend it, I feel like maybe it's worth a second chance

I always thought FTW was fuck the world, like Scottie Pippen,FUCK THE WORLD!

It's a good symbol for how much he seems to have changed, from hating his father to becoming his father. (you know, drunk doctor who abandoned a kid (aaron, though you could argue it wasn't his to care for). Jack couldn't understand why and how his dad would be such an asshole, but I think all this island stuff is

NO, no, the vico stuff is fascinating, particularly the age of father's thing. This show is so much about how we live in our father's worlds, no matter how we feel about the men themselves. Not just the exterior world, but the interior world. Which really, is what I think the scifi elements represent in the show.

Did you go on the guardian page?
for 4,000 bucks you can get the scissorhands from edward scissorhands

That's true. I've been called out. Now if only someone will help make my dreams come true.

I love everything about joe henry but his voice. I wish he would have someone else sing his songs. I still like the albums, but I can't absolutely love them

    neutral milk hotel
how is in an aeroplane over the sea not here? I don't put that on mixes because it's too obvious. …. is it the explicit reference to anne frank? The line about putting his fingers in your mouth?

switters, good call on our way to fall and in spite of me. The morphine song definitely captures the more helpless part of being in love. all i need by radiohead does that emotion too.

fuck of jorge, girl looks good.

I just noticed the McDonalds, Michael Mcdonald similarity. You think that was on purpose? Like they had to say Mcdonald's 10 times to get the money?

that malice line was my favorite of the night, b/c I've never seen the movie, but I know that part of it

It is interesting that in a show that is so much about the legacy of father's actions, Eloise Hawking plays a knowing and pivotal role as a mother. The mothers' in the show are either loving caretakers or people who defend the father's actions, instead of being part of the mystery of the island. There's plenty of

    danny mcbride, illeana douglas similarities?
anyone else notice the similarities between him and mcbride in their approach to the business? Both have directors who have defined their experience, both are hilarious, both can't stand auditioning? Even Illeana douglas' random roles captured that group of people

sorry, that's 4 days battery (continuous use) with evdo on, 2 weeks with it off. That, and 1500 books in one place, the thing they need more than color is a way to annotate, and save those annotations, both on the kindle, and on a computer.
