One of the real triumphs of Community, I think, is being able to take a personality as inherently offensive as Chase as transform him into an integral part of a perfect ensemble cast without ever diluting him.  But yeah, I get the sense he would be a tremendous dick to hang out with.

Oh jesus, that toaster movie is tucked away in the deepest, darkest part of my brain where horrifying shit I'm repressing goes to be terrifying.  I watched it when I was super little, and I can't actually remember anything about that movie except how disturbing the whole was to me.

I never thought of it that way before, but you're absolutely right.  There is the one example of Indy translating something into Mayan before he could translate it into English off the top of his head, but that's about the only point when the movie demonstrates knowing things is cool.
