When Superboy Prime tore the arms off Teen Titans?  When Wonderdog kills Wendy and Marvin?  When the Joker gets his face removed and Harley Quinn forces somebody to wear it like a mask?  When the Red Lanterns literally puke blood as part of their gimmick?   DC makes ugly comics for ugly people.

I have given up on most DC and Marvel books for this reason.  It's one thing if it's a book like Invincible, where ultra-violence was part of the story all along, but it's entirely another to see disemboweling and decapitation in comics starring the Super-Friends.  I have a kid and can't wait for him to be old enough

I couldn't stand Valiant then and I still can't.  Something about the coloring of the books just turns me off and I can't get past it.

Spot on.

He was simultaneously the most serious and the funniest Beastie.

I like The Queen is Dead best, but you have to start with a compilation, I think.  My first Smiths albums were those two Best Of collections and they really hit all the high points.

I got it from the "Teen" section of the library so I made the assumption.  There was a distinct lack of swearing and sex from what I read (I only am about 3/4 of the way through).  It's really good regardless.

Is YA Why? going to review Boneshaker by Cherie Priest?  That book was really solid, and it has cover blurbs from Mike Mignola and Warren Ellis so it has the hipster-geek cred.

Beasties are maybe my favorite band ever, but I still think it's nuts how huge they were back then

I am genuinely really excited for this.

The 90s, when bands tried to be really earnest and sincere and also ironic rock stars, and The Beastie Boys were considered paragons of integrity.

Uggghhhh, fuck you DC and your New 52 rapey facecutting .  I don't know why they decided the target audience for superhero comics should be 16- year- old Slipknot fans but they're sure working overtime to alienate everyone else.

I watched this show when I was in college; every Sunday night I got chinese takeout and watched TNG rerun followed by new DS9.  Happy times.

Yeah, there's a lot of Klingon culture on DS9, like recently I watched an awesome episode where Worf, Dax, and another Klingon go on a mission to recover an ancient sword that was all kinds of kickass

SO AWESOME

I'm at a loss as to why people like these creepy twins.

THE ALL-NEW PASSAT!!!!

That's American TV for you.  Everyone is better looking and makes more money than you do.  It's aspirational or something.
