There is PLENTY wrong with Marvel and DC these days- I wouldn't even suggest that they're in good shape these days. That's where I was going with the Hellboy thing—-there's this perception that DC/Marvel superheroes equals comics, and whither the Big Two so goes everyone else. There are alternatives out there,

"Granted, this issue is more accessable then all if the RIP run, but if you think that all of that backstory bullshit is going to play a huge part later on then you're just naive."

Now, Raindog, what makes you think that (a) it matters to new readers who New Robin's mom is and (b) that this point won't be addressed at any point during the series?
This was a #1 issue of a new series, and read like one. There was no more or less continuity knowledge required for this than there was for

Did you even read the book? What about "Batman and Robin" do you have to know about multiple earths or elseworlds to understand? Wayne dead, new Batman and Robin. It's all right there on the page.

Ohhhhhh.

Maybe he knew that we knew that Batman wasn't really 'dead,' so it would be pointless to try and sell us on the idea. DC brought back Hal Jordan, Jason Todd, and Barry Allen all in a 5 year span. Death is laughable in DC comics, Morrison knows it, and the reader knows it. A stunt, nothing more.

How, exactly, is that 'taking comics fandom too far'? Man has a point.

Duurrrr, dis aint duh Bats Man wuts on muh Blu-Rays.

You read All-Star Superman and Batman and Robin #1, and you tell me that's not the work of a genius. Then I will kick you in the crotch because you are stupid.

The DC comics universe is a great place to visit,
but I wouldn't want to live there. Superman- space alien who could destroy the world on a whim. Batman- vigilante nutcase who keeps an entire city in fear. Aquaman- can force every animal in the sea to do his bidding. And these are the good guys. Don't blame

Batman and Robin is great.
I feel bad for message board doofuses who can't get past the Damian character. I don't know if it's the idea of Bruce Wayne knocking a chick up or what, but a lot of superhero fans HATE the new Robin.

Ross' work is very pretty, but it can look overly static and posed. I like when he paints over someone else's pencils, like the recent Justice miniseries.

Also, first

Never mind- takes place in a comic book, doesn't count

Frank Miller wrote it.

Zombies vs Robots
and the sequel Zombies vs Robots vs Amazons. Get with it, AV Club

Aggrolites are fantastic

@ skullcrusherjones-
I didn't think Y had a BAD ending or anything. It was fine. It just wasn't quite what I was expecting is all. Reading it the first time, I was all about the plague mystery, and didn't pay as close attention to the other aspects of the series. If I reread the book my experience is

and also they would have sold fewer teddy bears.

Eh, too subtle.
