Yikes
That Simpsons episode was pretty terrible. I thought the first riddle was hilarious, until they came back from commercial and they were still going with it. As a throwaway gag the Poison-Dog-Baby thing was hilarious; as the basis for an episode it was cringe-worthy.

Nexus, on the other hand, holds up fantastically. I got nearly a complete run out of quarter bins and used bookstores and then sat down and read a huge chunk one weekend. Great great book.

I read some later issues of Solar (the Valiant era and the Acclaim era both. I liked the Acclaim stuff better because it was more superheroey) and the trade. I read some Harbinger (boring), Shadowman (boringer), some of the Unity crossover (didn't get it), and Magnus: Robot Fighter (which was actually kind of

Ted Kord's still dead.

The Dracula arc has definitely been the highlight of the run so far. I liked the Japanese killer dolls too.

Their numbers probably fell because those comics were boring. I missed the Valiant thing the first time around, but on a friend's recommendation I picked up some Valiant comics out of quarter bins. I failed to see what the fuss was about.

Besides his Holodeck addiction was Barkley that much of a fuckup? Was he shown to be a competent worker, or did he just all-around suck?

Sucks to be you, Frampton

Peter David is great. Both X-Factor runs, his decade-long run on The Hulk, Young Justice, Muthafuckin Hook-Hand Aquaman are all damn good comics. I haven't read a word of his Star Trek novels or comics but I understand he's hugely popular in that arena as well.

Thanks to torrents I own digital copies of Flex Mentallo and Miracle Man….but if I saw those comics at a convention I'd snatch them up in a hot second.

If you must update it for today's modern audiences have him sell his old crap on the Ebay.

I guess I only liked the Simpsons because it's Standaridized Testing Week
But I laughed my ass off. This was probably my favorite new episode in a long time.

Total loser.

Nope.

Yeah totally. No hipster in his 20's today enjoys kitschy old junk.

JTHM was the greatest comic ever written when I was 18. I haven't gone back and looked at it (or Squee) since, because I have a feeling it doesn't hold up very well.

Oh, good call. I love Concrete. Flaming Carrot is great too- and without FC we'd have no Mystery Men movie!

DC has always seemed to be a more detailed fantasy world than Marvel. There's a Narnia or Oz quality to the DC verse in my opinion.

OK. Let's start:

I'm a hard core DC fan. When I was a kid the 1989 Batman movie drew me in, and I branched out from there.
