He had a small part in Coen's "Burn After Reading" as a secretly married stiff that Frances McDormand meets on a dating site and has sex with. When I saw it for the first time I kept staring at the guy and thinking "Where do I know this guy from?"

I know we talked about Hesh last week but I re-checked all of the episodes after "Chasing It" and Hesh never makes another appearance again. To me that was a definite signal by Chase that Tony and Hesh's relationship was truly over. Hesh doesn't even appear at Christopher or Bacala's funeral.

That had to be brutal for Tony. The whole romantic father figure notion for Tony (Johnny Boy, Junior, Hesh, Paulie, Dickie) is destroyed by the end of this season.

Sort of off topic but UK cable provider Sky Atlantic has a pretty good article regarding their thoughts and theories on the final episode. The first link has a cool visual gallery. The second is just a write-up. I'm surprised these aren't more well known.

Todd,
Todd,
O.K. Poughkeepsie, please offer to me an alternate, in-depth analysis then. Tell me point by point why the MOS essay is "bullshit". Tell me why the POV editing pattern is "Bullshit."

I don't know if it's just trolling or pseudo-intellectualism. I think with the case of the Sopranos it's that people have some idea of what the ending should be so they project their own hopes unto their interpretation of the ending. Or they simply just argue that "Chase wouldn't do that." All the way ingnoring the…

I just read the book and Chase specifically refers to "Lieutenant Buttocks"!

I think Chase is talking about the famous Master of Sopranos essay. Sure, a lot of people think Tony died but no other site has put it together in such a meticulous way by explaining the filmaking in the scene. The essay also provides an explanation for what the ending meant in a larger contextual view that I have…

I always took those scenes a little differently. Tony is worried that Paulie doesn't shut up and tells Beansie that he's worried about Paulie's loose lips. Notice Tony's concern when Paul starts talking about the guy at the Jersey shore who "mysteriously" disappeared. I think Tony is testing him here. I think he's…

Todd, I love the recaps but can't we get a little deeper with some of the stuff going on in these episodes? You missed the biggest thing here:
