I agree that it wasn't "necessary" in a practical sense.  Chase could have had showed that Tony is pissed that Chris is distracted and not taking care of his crew in other, more simplified ways.  However, that would mean we would only have 85 episodes of this show instead of 86.  A "mediocre" episode of this show is

In my mind they're all connected as well.  Season 6 is like a great novel. It's what makes it the best season in the history of television.  Your reverence and insight here makes me suspicious that you're MOS himself.
