A Scanner Darkly and The Man in the High Castle are both excellent places to start. Be careful when starting out with Dick (that's what she said,) he wrote quite a few of his books during amphetamine jags, for quick paychecks to pay for more amphetamines. They're pretty awesome, but poor introductions.

Well?
But—does it involve TREASURE!?

MM was capable in "One For the Money" which is all you can ask when you're sharing space with a guy who's going to get his TAY-LONS into you!

Back to Ghostbusters for a sec—though I think it clearly is the best choice for Ted's favorite movie, it wouldn't work because while it's understandable and likable for a woman to mock Star Wars, a woman that dissed Ghostbusters would come off as a despicable shrew or Jehovah's Witness or something equally awful.

This would have been better
as a comedy starring Bernie Mac (RIP) and Jason Bateman. With Wanda Sykes as the wife.

Yeah, but what's it SOUND like?
So the two musical details we've got on this are that the dude yells on a chorus and the presence of drum rolls. Just because there's an audio clip doesn't mean you can slack off!
I think these guys' evolution from 90s-style postrock to a weird amalgam of Steely Dan flash and King

Man, what are we, effin' opera buffs? Simon Cowell? Who cares if his voice has pops or grooves or inconvenient edges or whatever? Maybe he should just run his vox thought a pitch corrector like Akon and we can all sigh softly as we wetnap the walls of our padded cells.
Jim James has a pretty voice, but he couldn't

Slowing down
Sure, there's been a 4-year gap between Giant Sand records, but Gelb released an excellent solo record under his own name, and at least one record under a pseudonym (Arizona Amp and Alternator) since then. And knowing him, he's probably got a few others I haven't heard about. So the "slowing down" lead

Easton Ellis is gay and married.
That is all.

Lest we forget
I move for a little 'Tomorrow Hit Today' love on this thread.
This stuff sounds solid, though.
But I gotta say it: Lukin, come back!

If only
This album should have been called "Subprime Balloon," and been built around quotes from Milton Friedman and Ben Bernanke.

That is Stephen Brilliant!

"Pognancy" is a new word, meaning "pugnaciously poignant."

But in reality, the girl died! Thanks, director Zach Braff, for a subtle reminder of life's pognancy, and for ending the season on such a gently melancholy, yet somehow uplifting, note.
Seriously though, go to hell.

He's got his TAY-LONS into you!

An important question
How much does a Tim Conway?

Winged Bones and Antlered Dogs
I'm curious to know why the Canned Heat Saturday night/later Saturday night masterpiece "Hoy Hoy" wasn't included. Was the art not garish enough, or the jams not as proggy as they could be.

Owls
I remember that Owls review, it really was something else. Though I certainly have contributed my share of far out flotsam to Skyscraper as well. Ah, the anything-goes ethos of the zines.
I still listen that Owls record, somewhat surprisingly.
