Why do Sisko et al have to act unprepared every time a visitor does an "I am not here for recreation, let's talk business" routine? They have to be used to that by now.

Zack or anyone else (I didn't originally watch the early seasons in order, so I can't comment): When do you think the moment was that Odo, uh, morphed from the intriguing mystery figure keeping the viewer at a distance into the guy with whom we identify and for whom our collective heart breaks so often?

Yeah, the episode really does blow off how unlikeable this makes Nog (at least in this particular episode - I can't recall any misogyny that over-the-top from that particular character anywhere else in the series).

When we finally get around to that episode, hope you fellow fans of Evil Bareil stick around. For some inexplicable reason, it's one of the most disliked episodes of the series.

It's been a pleasure watching the two of you methodically take one episode at a time and savor the show. Take one more breath and enjoy it.

My understanding is that after the show got cancelled, with some of its episodes never airing anyway, everyone pretty much agreed that "Objects In Space," besides just generally being amazing, works better than any of the other late ones as a finale.

I know! Me too; the episode is so gorgeous and dream-like and she keeps up the ruse for so long that the viewer doesn't really register what a ridiculous idea it is (especially since anything's possible with River).

I often sell Bebop fans on trying Firefly and vice versa by pointing out the things they have in common about their settings.

Captains of this oft-edgy show,
With s’posed “comedy,” they bring it low,
Aged and youth, alike bore thee,
Bullshit love, rend sanity.
O, for their foul pageant not to see!
Lord, what fools these writers be!

Ah, Trek gimmick commenters. Sirtis comes kinda close, but RJS is just on a higher plane of commenting than anyone else, ever.

Yep, it's a bit of a crash when a strong season full of "Civil Defense"s suddenly offers up "Meridian." And S3 isn't nearly done killing its momentum with duds.
