It's kind of a thankless role to begin with being the wife of a main character who's rarely involved in the main storylines, but the writers and the actor manage to do a whole hell of a lot of nothing with it.  I can't say I "hate" Keiko so much as feel a profound indifference towards her, and I think that's the kind

"I'm the real McCoy, you're not even Dr. Piper"… if I can find my stack of lifetime passes, that earns one.

The other thing that might have helped in making it a conflict between right and right is raising the stakes a little for the Skreeans.  Other than being generally unpleasant in demeanor, the worst thing that happens is that they go down the block and settle on a different perfectly acceptable planet.

Reviews like this make me wish I had more to say, but Internet comment boards really aren't the place to pontificate.  Clearly this was a moving couple hours of TV for you, and the review just feels like a purging of words and thoughts.  But yeah, these hurt.  For me, "Shells" actually hurts more than AHITW.  I've

I was worried that too much battle rap freestyle would spread RJS too thin, but now I'm thinking it'll just push him to win the Internet even harder.

If you ever are engaged in conversation with someone who was on the DS9 staff at that time, then for Cthulhu's sake never let them start talking about how proud (and insufferably smug) he is about first dropping the name "Dominion" into a Ferengi episode.  You'll be there all night.

Well, on top of all that, he has to totally re-evaluate his concept of his closest friend, now that he realizes she doesn't fit into what he thought he knew about her.

"Necessary Evil" is my favorite episode of the series.  (So, it's all downhill from here.  Except that the show eventually develops the ability to reach near-NE heights way more often.)  With Zack about how it shows that DS9 runs deep compared to other Trek series.

5 of 8 hosts killed peeps and u don't see ME moping or staring into space.  JUST SAYING!!  #AsTheStationTurns

I won't test it, but I don't know if it's possible to over-hype "Smile Time."  It is that good.

"After having her big moment on the runabout, she decides to forgo
Bashir’s miracle treatment, because the ability to float reasonably well
is too damn important for her to lose."
Zack pre-wins the thread before even starting it!

I share your frustration with how much S5 repeats itself thematically, and it's one of the reasons I can't rank it amongst my favorites.  I mean, look at "You're Welcome" - Angel makes the same complaints he makes every week "quits," then defends his choice to run the firm once Cordelia shows up to warn him, then with

I hated Sunnydale-Cordelia too (and was pleasantly surprised by what a great character L.A.-Cordelia became, for awhile), but for what it's worth, she serves a very specific purpose - to make the artchetypal shallow bitch character one of the heroes, and one of the many people sharing in the alienation and misery of

"Empok Nor," S5.  And yeah, Garak does a little "you hate Cardassians, don't you?" needling.

@KiraNerys_DS9 You totally called it, seat of pants flying is AWESOME!

"It’s a mark of how high in my estimation DS9 has already risen that I’m entertained but mildly disappointed with a storyline like this one."

My wife couldn't stand "Harm's Way" because she literally cannot hear Harmony talk wihtout thinking that she has a cold.  I'm fine with it as comic relief.  Spike's explanation for sticking around is a little painful in its contived-ed-ness, but them's the realities of TV.

We're all repeating ourselves here, but about that "rules established early on" thing… one of the *first* things BTVS did was to establish the character of Angel - a vampire who *breaks* the "established" rules.  Buffy thinks she's got it all figured out, and then she runs into someone who has both a vampire's

I love how it's getting farcical and silly but with real sentiment, and then suddenly the comedy act stops dead the moment Bareil walks in.  At this point in the episode and show, Bareil still has the mystery and gravitas that lets the show do this, although the luster has started to fade for many viewers half an hour
