How does the above not complete the Gummo-Shining trifecta for disturbing weekend lead photos?  Falling down on the job, AV Club.

Rick McCallum's reaction to part of The Phantom Menace is one of the best things in the Plinkett review.

Very much agreed.  The show's focus on speechwriting, to the necessary exclusion of other political activities (because hey, if words could solve a problem, who needs a Super PAC?) is both narcissistic (Sorkin by extension praising Sorkin), unrealistic (how much time did the show ever spend on the role of money in

It involved voluntarily (!) choosing to watch (sometimes on mute, sort of in the background) an IndyCar race that was not the start or last five laps of the 500.  I was even bummed when the track fell apart.

I saw that last weekend, the absence of that shot.  Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed.  I thought I was going Uncle Junior for a second, but realized that A&E was just pulling a Paulie Walnuts and not kicking up the entire episode.

Vito sawing those boards and getting pissed off about the time is an amazing scene, something that captures the unvarnished (pun intended) truth of that character's life, and life in general, in a way that's up there with the Dr. Krakauer scene.  Rarely do we see in such detail the micro-foundations of why it's so
