this sounds cool… all i ever got to see in my neck of the woods was Friday Night Videos. there was one episode that was hosted by a very young jerry seinfeld and a female comic whose name i don't remember… my siblings and i watched that VHS copy until it wore out, partly because they showed the rapping theme song for

looks like you can hear the Velvet Sedan Chair music here:

wow - this is such a great topic to geek out on. [and, no shit, 1200 comments in a day or so? it clearly hit a nerve…]

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw a two-movie on one DVD pairing of "Greystoke" with "10"… although, now that I think about it, wasn't there a half-assed Tarzan movie that starred Bo Derek? it was probably that one and not the one with the guy from "Highlander" - which I'm pretty sure is the version you're thinking of. [too

shit, i would love a collection of THB stuff - do either of you know if he plans to finish the story? maybe there was an ending i never found but, if i remember right, the book just sort of tapered off without a real conclusion.

serious question: can anyone make out the LED display on the VCR? i can't but i thought it was possible this might spell something out if you see it on a big screen or something a little more geared for viewing than my laptop.

or choke it to death while your security detail goes to get the family - to save it from experiencing undue pain, of course.

i still think this boils down to the price charged for comics - $3-4 for a book that takes less than 15 minutes to read is only sustainable if your audience are basically junkies. the big publishers know this and have said as much - "we're gonna push the price until the fans stop buying."

but the idea comics are too

yeah, like maize says below [above?] you'll know whether you're a fan after looking up the first two albums… to be honest, Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde will probably do the job on it's own, but i know Labcabin.. has fans - i think their take on BoyzIIMen-style crooning is the only thing worthwhile on the album, but

does this hold true with regard to The Hunger Games books? i'm honestly curious… i knew a bunch of boys who enjoyed the laura engalls-wilder Little House books when i was growing up but i also knew some who would only pick up the one "about the boy" [can't remember which volume it was - dude is growing a pumpkin or

not… Noel "BITCHASS" Murray?!

probably waaaay too late but you might also enjoy Carla Speed McNeil's FINDER series, which is sort of a blend of anthropology, sci-fi and fantasy - i haven't read anywhere near all of it but the stuff i have seen seems very pomo on the myth/folklore tip.

arex is right to point out this is 20 years under the bridge and will serve no useful purpose… but i'm gonna throw in some fan love for the 5 Years After Legion anyway, 'cause it was my favorite.

in a way, this is a completely fascinating illustration of just how much academia and history probably get wrong: these comic book issues came out less than 20 years ago and a good percentage of us were collecting at the time and we still don't have a consensus on whether this was a tie-in or not. [for the record, i

if you can't get it through university interlibrary loan, you could try the regular library - the ohio public libraries are broken into a couple regions and everyone in a given region can request books from any other library in the region. even though i live over the border in WV, i use this pretty heavily… today, i

you might look into Due South, a show about a Canadian Mountie who, while on the trail of the man who killed his father, wound up in Chicago and stayed, attached as liaison to the local police department. i don't think it's on netflix but you can order the complete series of DVDs for about $30 or so - it started out

yeah, i've never really understood the complaint that Jumper is plot-light: i think you've got a totally interesting movie just by focusing on a guy who uses teleportation to not only rob a bank and escape from an abusive father but then also hunt down the terrorists who blew up his mom… and that's not even getting

a helmet you can't see through: doesn't luke whine some shit like "How can I see anything with the blast shield down?" i always just assumed it was an intergalactic welding mask or something…

juanito: here's why i'm not a super-fan of tom cruise: just about every character he plays is the absolute best there is at whatever it is that character does.
