I found the film version of 39 Steps pretty unwatchable, since it has practically no soundtrack to speak of and is overly episodic. The play version, which is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek retelling, is excellent.

Um, yeah. He uses the dagger all of 4 times (mind you, there is a lot of talk about the send being scarce, so that kind of makes sense), but every time he does it it's after the action has occurred and everyone is dead/dying.

@lord Flasheart— MGM can't do anything because it declared bankruptcy. Even if these movies were "sure things" (which considering how much The Hobbit will cost and how much Quantum lost, is not true at all), there's no money. MGM has to sell the rights, which will take some doing since they're in bankruptcy court…
