Maybe you were misled by the weird 'Lionsgate's latest franchise" phrasing; these are just a series of books for older children written by a little-known Brit a while ago, and it's unlikely he had movies in mind - he has a lot of the action inside people's heads…

yeah; this might be one of those movies where the sound designer is shouldering a lot of the work.

Yup: they're young-young-adult, but punchily written, morally complex (for their age group) and dark.

B-side to Paperback Writer… You had to buy actual singles to get the extra tracks in those days.
