Just watched the first episode of this show last week and now I've caught up with the rest of you. The pilot immediately hooked me on how assured it was in every department and it's more or less maintained that quality throughout. Claire Danes, whose acting I've never really noticed before, is amazing and her Carrie

Seriously, that shit was heart breaking and the fact that Brody did this to her (the same guy she once again decided to pretty up for only to get completely rejected) made it so much worse. She lost the two things she seemed most excited by - Brody and her work - in one go. It was like telling a girl in primary school

Fair enough. I haven't seen the original film or read the book so I'm unaware of how deep those problems run, but all I was saying is that I think Fincher's earned the benefit of the doubt by now. Maybe I'd feel differently if I was familiar with the source material like you are.

Man, say what you want about this movie (I don't have much to say because I haven't seen it in ages), but calling it a piece of "fluff" is really pushing the definition of that word.

Yes, and before The Social Network came out, everyone laughed and made fun of it for being the "facebook movie" and how it would be 90 minutes of "ppl playin farmville or smthn lol".

Philip Seymour Hoffman's psychiatrist in Synecdoche, New York.

This episode was surprisingly not terrible. In fact it was probably the least terrible episode of the season (of the few I've seen anyway) despite the awful cold open, Al Sharpton and Katy Perry's cringeworthy Pippa Middleton.

Ahh alright, I've read only maybe one of those and that was quite a while back. I asked because I saw a similarly phrased comment on another thread, so I thought I'd missed the inception of some new AV Club meme. Anyway, thank you for the response. Much appreciated.

"Characters who refuse to take “no” for an answer are always more interesting" - You heard it here, guys. Todd wants more rapists on TV.

Okay, I apologize for the ignorance but I have to ask - Where is this from/who are you rephrasing?

Yeah, it's more likely that Dennis tried to bang the other dude's date, she rejected him and Dennis somehow conviced himself that the other dude stole his date and made himself the sympathetic one in this story because he just can't comprehend the idea of a woman rejecting him.

Nice..

@avclub-fb3deea8bff8902a6a092a4b532b4a68:disqus That jocular attempt at emotional manipulation worked exceptionally well thanks to your adorable avatar. I'm sorry for making fun of you, retard dog.

Common, are you retarted or something? That was the joke.

Yup, this would be my favorite moment of the year.

@Juan_Carlo:disqus I imagine HDB will be outraged by that piece of information.

How could you even insinuate that a year end list with Britney Spears in the top 25 is lacking?

Yup. It's probably the first Pitchfork review I've ever truly enjoyed reading and I didn't think there was anything "absurd" about it.

Koski thinks your an idiot for another reason.

Waste of money and weirdly disturbing. Let's hope this shit never becomes cheap because I don't think I'm ready for CGI porn and the subsequent reminiscing about the good old days "when boobs were fake, but they actually existed goddammit".
