Wee thing about Ballard I uploaded to Vimeo.
Enjoy.

I'd like to totally hijack this thread and publicise myself, if I may.
Interview I did with them a couple of months ago. Should clear up all the questions that've been brought up, yeah?

I love their English lyrics, and i LOVE the ones for the Hall Of Mirrors. The awkward, slightly mistranslated nature of the words adds to the notion of them as machines who don't quite 'get' humanity in all of it's intricacies. It's not meant to be dazzling wordplay like Dylan, it's the opposite of that. It's like

I'm disappointed…
…that it seems that not one of you felt that this movie exceeded its flaws. The kudos you all give it seems to be grudging at best. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just think that a movie that has actually succeeded in being close to its source, as bleak a proposition as that may be, should be getting

Never seen a Hillcoat movie…..
…that I didn't love. His debut, Ghosts of the Civil Dead is arguably the best prison movie ever made, and is often cited as the inspiration for Oz. I knew he'd be the guy for the job of adapting The Road as soon as I learned he was involved. As for the 'He's no Michael Haneke' opinion

Um, I know I'm way late to this thread, but Parker and Stone describe themselves as 'card-carrying Republicans'.

Please explain it. I honestly have no fucking clue what a browncoat is. I can only assume it's a reference to either fascism or ass-kissing. Not expecting it to be a compliment anyway.

'browncoat'?

No Boards Of Canada?
The fact that neither Geogaddi nor The Campfire Headphase appear on this list renders it something of a joke.

I am so disappointed in what this movie seems to have turned out like, I can barely articulate it. Jon Ronson's book and the 3-part documentary he made from it, Crazy Rulers of the World, are among his finest work, and both very much allow the essential comic absurdity of the situation and characters under discussion

I agree with the above assertion that they're all about the music to a point, but their boundaries are somewhat questionable, and they do place themselves somewhere at the more cerebral end of the hipster food chain. When Radiohead released Amnesiac, they (rightly IMHO) got the cover which generated an avalanche of

Yes.

Wow. It's so incredibly, unbelievable unlike a Cannibal Corpse song. I'd recommend you SEE IT.

Festen was amazing, one of the best films I saw in the 90s. Idiots was well-made and acted, but painful to watch (deliberately). Mifune was a good Dogme 95 movie as well.

*AHEM*

Well……
….this DID turn out to be a depressing thread. I guess an incredibly grim, dark, hopeless movie about grief and insanity just isn't for everyone huh?
