Walt never read Gale's dedication to him. I think he kept it because it was a token of his superiority to Gale that he thought only he could recognize as such. Since he never actually bothered to read it, he didn't realize he was keeping a piece of really incriminating evidence on his toilet.

I think this must have been from one of the deleted scenes things on the DVD, but I always laugh when I think of Dave Chapelle as Silky at the Player Haters Ball looking at a picture of Rosie O'Donnell and saying, "She wears underwear with dickholes in 'em."
