I think the swimwear was supposed to be a callback to the swimsuits of the 20s. You know, those tanktop-shorts combo dealies.

That's a great observation.

I enjoyed this immensely, but I have to say that I'm not fully onboard with the Mechs. They seem to be such a huge technical leap from anything we've seen before. More than that, they don't feel like they belong in the Avatar world…which you could argue is the point, so I'm willing to play along. They don't make…

The statute of the Cabbage Vendor standing gloriously at his cart did it for me.

More like the mythical double cock push-up.
It's definately a learned behavior. It's amazing how much kids take on the traits of their parents, even against their better efforts. Don and Megan seem to be doing a better job parenting, but Sally has already adopted the langauge of Betty.
That line was brutal. I love how Mad Men has characters use seemingly throw-away lines to show passive-aggressive jockying for position. I'm guessing everyone has at least one person in their family who does the same.
I bent my Chip N Dip.
Oh, is that what you think you do?
I did't expect Avatar-state, but I did keep waiting for her to bust out some airbending. First when he watercannon jump fell short and then a bunch of times when she was plummeting. When's she going to lock that shit down?
This was a really excellent and unique way to do the BIG GAME. The show keeps defying expectations, and it's a pleasure to watch. I also like the way that the show gets you pissed at the Wolfbats to the point that, when Amon comes at them bros, you're not sure who you're rooting for. There was definitely a…
I think there's actually a bit of evidence for this. In the beginning of the episode, Amon and his followers were loading boxes in what appeared to be a large factory. And, Cabbage Corp being the sponsor of the tournament would explain how they were able to sneak equipment into the arena.
But keep in mind what the show is trying to do here. This isn't GI Joe or He-Man where every problem can be solved with a well-place energy blast. It's dealing with themes like the loss of spirituality in the face to technological progress and cultural assimilation. Punching isn't going to help.
Funny word: mukluk.
Well-remembered. I always felt that the Aang's chakra opening sequence was (uncharacteristically) poorly done. Every chakra, save the last, was so easy for him. He just took a deeep breath and presto. If Korra's journey is the inverse, all the better.
This may be a silly question, but was it ever established that Tarrlock was a bender? I recall him mentioning his Northern Water Tribe heritage, but do we actually see him bend?
I just started using GIMP for some of my own projects! Lately, I've watned to try my hand at a putting together a minimalist/deco poster that I've seen people doing. I haven't played around with it enough to figure out how to get that look, though.
