Reminded me of Dave (not David) flying around in 2001 without the super color saturation. The scene at the beginning looked like Scotland to be me and the planet look more like desert.

I'll repeat what I said above, the quality of writing of the better shows on TV is way the heck better than it is in this movie and movies generally. How can spend three or four years and over $100m and phone in the script and think it will be OK because of the sets and effects? Without sincere human…

Yes, its very important. He sacrifices presumably to start the human race. Dawn of Man, like 2001, except he kills himself instead of the other monkey.

Like HAL, except he can walk, for a while.

He could have been a good nucleus for a movie, like HAL.

Agreed. I went because my 17-year old asked me (which doesn't happened every day) and my wife (his mom) looks a lot like Sigourney Weaver, so I have fond memories of Alien 1 and 2, though haven't seen either since they first came out.

Yes, and Piecar, it's one thing to be purposefully ambiguous (which worked nicely in the opening sequence) and another to be a lazy writer who won't have his characters run 50 feet to the left to avoid getting smooshed because the movie is already 1:50 long and we have to wrap it up.

Thought he was sacrificing himself to create the human race, though you got me why his drinking the goo would result in humans rather than the assorted monsters we see in the film. Maybe the goo got rancid over the millenia? The script was incoherent and amazingly not thought through for a film than took years to make…

Not quite clear who owns who on a day-to-day basis. Clearly, Nissan is much bigger outside of western Europe regardless of who has more of who's stock.
Suckers.
