Though the answers to these questions are non-canonical, they are exceptional - in that I really recommend you read two books.

From now on, after these two dismal episodes, the season has a really strong run. Pretty much to the end; I cannot really remember 'Playing God' or 'Profit and Loss', but the rest are good (such as 'Shadowplay') or great even ('Whispers', everything from 'Blood Oath' to 'The Jem'Hadar').
