That's the feeling that I've been getting with these Clara eps, that they edited something for time each ep, not realizing it was crucial to the overall story for Clara.  The biggest being she blows off the Doctor in Bells, but Rings opens with her popping out of the TARDIS, no explanation.  At least we get the idea…
