@avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus I hated The Hunted, but I'm in the minority around here. Most AVCers seem to think it's good-to-great.

Still, though. We're not talking Turin Horse levels of inaccessibility here. The thing's like 90 minutes long and stars George Clooney! CinemaScore viewers were probably just mad that it didn't have laser gun fights or something.

I can understand finding Soderbergh's Solaris to be unnecessary, inferior to the original, and/or rather middling, but anyone who outright hates that movie is dumb. (Personally, I like it better than Tarkovsky's.)

It has been rumored that he's involved in Scientology, though he's pretty hush-hush about it. If true, that'd make me lose respect for him.

I am appalled! Appalled, I say!

That's a very intelligent analysis of all three shows, @avclub-6997a8bd0e1042b70b60c5c879a1780e:disqus , and it helps me appreciate Mad Men a bit more. Where I disagree with you, I guess, is your characterization of Breaking Bad as a "morality play," wherein a normal guy commits sins and then the rest of the show is

Correction: TV politics is already dramatic enough. Real politics is a lot more like the stuff you see on C-SPAN, probably because it's, you know, *actual politics* that's not written by Aaron Sorkin.

Really? I'm not going to pretend BB's potboiler aspects aren't there, but they come coupled with a much more mature sensibility than 90% of the television shows out there. It's one of the only television series I've ever seen that purposes to portray a protagonist in a state of total moral decay, and then actually
