Yes, obviously the Civil War could only have been about one thing, because if there's one thing that our enlightened modern perspective has taught us, it's that everything in national politics can be boiled down to a single issue with no gray areas whatsoever.

"Whatever Happened to Alternative Nation?" is probably one of the best things the AVClub has ever done, and I say that as someone who's not much of a music buff. Its success is
