MGMT's "Time to Pretend" is catchy as hell, but the lyrics are a huge bummer: might as well pursue a life of empty hedonism, 'cause one day we're all going to choke on our own vomit and die!

According to Alison Willmore, nope. Which removes the last reason anyone would ever want to see this movie: Liam Neeson mellifluously growling "You sunk my battleship!" in front of a terminal of blinky lights.

That makes me feel a bit better, @avclub-e576423831e043f7928d9ac113abbe6f:disqus. For a while as a kid, there was nothing I wanted more than that game for Christmas, and I never got it. Knowing that it sucked makes me feel a little better. I could have shot my eye out!

I think you're being a little over-sensitive with the "evil lesbians" thing. We're obviously meant to read the ending as a thoroughly fitting (though dreadful) comeuppance for Craig. And as others have already noted, even if Maxine and Lottie come off as unsympathetic by the end, they're certainly no worse than any of

Careful, Mike! You may find yourself skewered by his rapier wit next!

*SLAP*

Mr. Bender, will you please high-five him so we can continue this meeting? … And on the rebound?

Maborosi is great. I'm really glad to see that other people know about it, considering that it came out in the 90s and didn't get as much attention as his later films. Everything about it is incredible, from the cinematography to the acting to the direction. I honestly can't think of a single flaw in it.

DAMN YOOUU PROFDRAGONNNNN! *shakes fist*

Meh. I'd watch it and enjoy it, of course, but the Reavers were just a part of the Firefly universe. Reavers are best used sparingly, I think; a series that focused exclusively on them would get monotonous pretty fast. I was always more interested in stuff like the Operative and the "hands of blue" guys.

SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING A SECRETLY GAY PERSON WOULD SAY

Seriously! Who gives a shit about whatever Wastelanders is, I want Firefly revived on the double. Preferably with Fox airing the entire first season as a lead-up to the new episodes.

Tyler Perry's 10 Things I Hate About You Too

flowsthead, you must be using some heretofore unexplained standard when you say "just plot." The fact that you're holding up the friggin' WHEEL OF TIME books as an example of tight, propulsive plotting leads me to believe you have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

Run naked on the grass! Hop along, my hearties! For your health!

Which one is the boxing episode? I probably sound like a broken record because I lambast it constantly 'round these parts, but seriously my hatred for that episode is white-hot. Hate it hate it hate it.

Are you joking? If Book 5 is "Harry whines, Harry whines some more, Sirius dies, Harry whines," then Book 6 is "Dumbledore spews backstory, Dumbledore spews more backstory, teenage romance bullshit, Dumbledore spews yet more backstory, Dumbledore dies." Literally half of Book 6 is just Dumbledore exposition.

Here's a summary of my thoughts on A Song of Ice and Fire:

Jeez, @avclub-6997a8bd0e1042b70b60c5c879a1780e:disqus, if LotR is bad fantasy fiction, then what's GOOD fantasy fiction, in your mind? Every fantasy writer since the 1950s can't help but rip him off. He practically invented the genre as we know it.

I never thought of that before. That's pretty awesome.
