My first Mario Kart was the N64 version, but I like Double Dash the best. The driving just feels better (though the lack of a hop is a bummer). Unlike most people (or so it seems sometimes), I even like DD's battle mode more, simply because it boils down Mario Kart battles to their purest essence: running around like

Oh man, just wait until Lucas dies and the tell-all books start coming out. I've never read those things, but I might have to spring for one if there's merciless takedowns of Lucas in it.

If Lucas gets his grubby paws on any of the Indy movies and starts changing them (especially the scimitar guy scene), I think I'll snap and kill him myself.

Agreed. Now THAT is an example of the gossamer touch of snark. Which I guess makes O'Neal the anti-Zimmer.

So the lesson we can draw from these data is … successful blockbusters make studios lots of money?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you took a million Monopoly boards, laid them end to end, and walked from one end to the other, it would still be more fun than actually playing Monopoly.

More like, foreshadowing ENTRAILS consequences!

Garret Hedlund? Really? I didn't know he was ever considered a "leading man." The only role I can remember him in is the clueless deputy in "No Country for Old Men."

Watched Kick-Ass on Friday night and was mightily disappointed. It changes tones so much it gives you whiplash. First it's an unvarnished look at what would really happen if you tried to be a superhero (stabbings), then it's tongue-in-cheek wish fulfillment, then it's this super-serious John-Woo-like actioner, then

I saw The Mask of Zorro right at the peak of my adolescent hormones. Yep. Catherine Zeta-Jones. Great swordfights too, some of the best ever filmed, IMO.

"I'm turning this book in a little late. Sorry."

Has Kristen Bell been in a single good movie other than "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" (which wasn't even that great to begin with)? I can't think of another young star who exhibits a bigger gulf between raw talent and role choices.

I think it was the reviewer's line about the protagonist's narration being "her attempt to exonerate herself" in the eyes of imagined accusers that did it for me, since that's the core conceit behind almost every Atwood book ever.

Sounds like a Margaret Atwood novel, except that it replaces generational betrayal and sex-based oppression with whiny rock-star drama. Bleh.

Incorrect. But that's only because The Office is one of the best shows ever made.

I guess I don't see why cutthroat players would choose to play Monopoly in a world where Settlers of Catan exists, since Catan boasts most of the fun parts of Monopoly (wheeling and dealing, constructing an indomitable empire, the suspense of what number gets rolled next) with none of the drawbacks (player

Here's the thing about Monopoly: there is no strategy. It's 100% dependent on the luck of the dice. You just buy everything you land on, trade properties so people end up with monopolies, and whoever lands more often on opposing hotels loses. Everyone has their favorite and least-favorite properties, but you can't

@avclub-c1fe85b855c6d045b827f74a1e2c3fd7:disqus , Jesus is referred to in the book of Revelation as "the Lion of the tribe of Judah," so there's precedent for Lewis's choice of imagery.

Seriously. Everyone I know, even the popular kids, hated middle school. What hellscape did you spend your childhood in, Lux?

I spent Thanksgiving at my sister's house, which in addition to my sister and her husband contains five children. Since I hardly ever see them, sitting in front of screens and not talking seemed pretty lame, so we played a lot of games instead. This just in: Monopoly still sucks.
