I remember my first time through the series too. I did okay with the first season, but I cracked during season 2's first episode. Brent's well-meaning yet oblivious racism and sexism, the inappropriate dick jokes … I was literally having a panic reaction, it was so awkward. According to my friends, about halfway

I don't think that we should side with either Neil or David. Gervais says on the commentaries that Neil is actually a jerk who cloaks his meanness in charisma and confidence — which is true — but I can't bring myself to like Brent. I can identify, empathize, and sympathize with him, but in the end he's too immature,

Either No Country or The Man Who Wasn't There. I'm surprised that the latter hasn't been mentioned yet.

Friday night: Hung out with a friend, who suggested we see "Limitless" at the cheap theater. What a gigantic turd THAT was. An ordinary schmoe becomes the smartest man in the world overnight, and what does he do with his powers? Seduce a bunch of bimbos and negotiate a corporate merger. Just awful. I couldn't believe

Vanquish was also fun to look at, a rush of bright flashy graphics and 'splosions. If I'm going to play a brainless action game, I at least want it to look pretty, unlike Gears of War, which had two colors: "gray" and "blood."

Fuck you guys, Burl will lay waste to the pretenders to his throne when he returns.

From now on every "What I watched instead" thread should include discussions of Coen brothers films. I demand this.

Meedly meedly meedly meeeeeee mownownow now now now nowmmmm

Yeah, "Albuquerque" pretty much wins this category now and forever.

Kenneth Branagh is the absolute worst in this category. Have you seen his version of "Frankenstein"? The whole thing is one self-indulgent mess. It even has the requisite "character goes shirtless for no good reason just to show off the director's abs" shot.

Previously, on HarbingerOfDuh's nightmare descent into BSG's fourth season …

@The Dude Abides, I prefer to think they're just extra u's. It fits with his general tone. "It's a fuuuucking MOVIE!!"

I thought it was okay whenever Daredevil wasn't angsting over his romantic life. The way they represented his sonar-like senses was pretty cool, especially considering that Daredevil's superpowers are almost by definition un-cinematic. And Duncan made a killer Kingpin.

Woo first or something
Hey, it's my 1000th post. Might as well celebrate one meaningless milestone with another.

I don't want to be "that guy," really I don't
… but can someone tell me what the big deal is about The IT Crowd? Does it improve immensely after the pilot? Because I tried it out on the recommendation of a few friends and found it to be grating and lazy. It seemed to suffer from the same problem as The Big Bang

I was surprised "The Fly" didn't get a mention. That movie needs to come with a "no-pregnant-women-allowed" rating. I'm a man, and that birth scene is one of the most nauseating things I've ever seen in a film. I can't imagine what I would think of it if I were biologically capable of giving birth.

Duh! Gay panic is only a bad thing if you didn't enjoy the rest of the movie.

You stupid monkey!!

La Pipe: I'm working through BSG for the first time myself, and trust me when I say to you that the writers horribly betray Starbuck's character later in the show's run (I don't want to say why because I don't want to spoil any plot developments for you). It was all the more disappointing because you're right that, in

That is an interesting line of discussion. As far as action icons go, Lucy Liu may come the closest, though even at her height I don't think she reached Schwarzenegger levels.
