I liked how they dispensed with most of the Kong myths. Once I knew they weren't handcuffed to any kind of previous mythology it felt fresh for me and fun.

I always just assumed the real servants are the ones that got changed and all the other dishes, cutlery, etc were just part of being in an enchanted castle. There's pretty much just magic everywhere and each servant can use it when it pertains to his or her jobs.
