Suggesting that people invest time in understanding memes as part of a broader education in pop culture is like suggesting people spend time reading the scrawls above a urinal as a broader education in literature.

Are you talking about being accused of being from Breitbart? You're launching into this awkward, sustained attack because somebody accused you of being from Breitbart?

I'd probably argue that focusing on the integrity of the meme over the underlying issue of rampant Internet racism is pretty silly.

I hope that parenthetical isn't a dark joke.

And we've come full circle, where now spoken language needs a sarcasm tag.

To be fair, people with quick wits usually find the talent in quick, thinkless responses where they rely on reflex more than anything, a talent probably sort of hobbled by translators. You gotta sit there and get the set-up piece-by-piece and then you gotta be overly conscious of what can and can't get lost in

You would love Omaha, then.

The first even remotely English link you get when you search for that word is something related to Bob Dylan and No Direction Home. Thought everyone should know.

I don't know that she's trying to peddle an image of "not being defined by x." She explicitly acknowledges the inevitability of being defined by iconic roles, claims to be sometimes frustrated by it, but ultimately accepts it as the trade-off for the many positive experiences that come with childhood acting.

Because he did do it and got off due to the ridiculously rapist-favorable brand of justice we practice.

Honestly, it has more to do with auteur obsession, probably. It's not just in this instance, or other instances of negative publicity. Like, where's Roger Avary?

The question was about the movie, about whether or not the rape affected the way people see the movie.

Yeah, he knows that. He's implying that every time Parker is mentioned, the fact that his victim was white should also be mentioned because that's the only way to accurately report the crime.

If that were the case, I'm sure we'd hear about it happening at least sometimes. I mean, a great many mothers have mouths other than their child's on their breasts. It's not like the only two options are baby or paying customer.

I don't know what to do with this implication that thawed chicken is not strikingly handsome.

Sure, sure, but a vinyl record is like precisely the kind of thing I'd want a receipt for.

Pretty obvious it's the phonetic spelling with the accent.

It was for understanding the fundamental loneliness of a life based around parking yourself in front of a camera to rant vaguely about pop culture, playing video games for millions of dollars.
