I'm about to turn on the cynic switch for a minute and say definitely read the book first- because theres a good chance the movie will be shit. Don't get me wrong, it LOOKS fantastic. But if the reports are true that Snyder has messed with the ending in order to make it more politically relevant to today, then you'll

SPACED
Its Duane! Serafinowicz is awesome on that show.

Did you see the scene where Captain Mike talked extensively about the hummingbird? If so then you missed nothing else.

"It didn't feel forced at all to me—it was just there"

Oh most definitely. It wouldn't be hated on if it hadn't won Best Picture. But the fact that it beat other deserving films still sticks out in a lot of peoples minds, including my own. In the grand scheme of things its pretty mediocre but others' impassioned love for it is what draws the somewhat overstated "ire."

…and I said "much more" one too many times.

How so?
How is Katrina important to the movie in any way? Part of it is set during it, sure, but Fincher never gets into that pandering territory where he lectures the Bush administration or some shit. Its a plot device more than anything and really quite inconsequential- just another framing like the Beatles on Ed

Right on, its a great movie as well. The only other doc I'd heard of was Man on Wire which I want a see. But I feel like it won't be Encounters.

You said it Tobias
My thoughts exactly. The Academy fucks up for another year. The amount of snubs that the Wrestler has gotten is ridiculous. I figured it wouldn't get nominated but never in a million years did I think a universally-regarded "meh" movie like The Reader, a watered down love story attempting to be

LOST IS BACK
HELL YEAH! And Hawking too! Been waiting for her ever since here mind-blowing debut. What got me into the show originally.

Restrained? Really? I thought it was ham-fisted. But I thought that about Crash too. Seriously, my image of Haggis is some dude with big, meaty, pork fists trying to work a camera.

The Wrestler is the best movie this year. And I"m not just saying that because I'm a wrestling fan. It does do a hell of a job of portraying the business, but it ultimately works because its a very human tale, and in my opinion, completely destroys the cliche of most "comeback story" movies. A lot of reviewers compare

'nother wrestling fan here. But at the risk of provoking Mr. Motherfucker, the Marine is shit.

Underrated
I liked this game a lot. The one-on-one battles are really cool if you learn how to guard and really play them well. I also dug the Prince-Elika relationship and I'm pumped for the sequel after that AWESOME ending. Even though the story hit on some cliches I found myself playing to see more of it. In that

Film of the festival?
Just a question to you folks over there at Sundance, what did you think was the best film you saw?

Just like a Delgo…
…bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Stone
"The boys make up the facts as they go along, using whatever tidbits of truth suit them and disregarding the rest. This is commonly known as the Oliver Stone approach to historical filmmaking."

FUCK THE FCC
Seriously, how late at night was this? Who gives a fuck? He was clearly joking, he was laughing as he did it. I hate how nobody cares about context anymore. It was a goddamn finger. Instead people get worked up and "offended" (such a stupid idea, like something SOMEBODY ELSE does has any real effect on

Think you got this one wrong…
IDK, you'd rather have had it comment on race relations in the south? WTF? How is that meaningful in any way. Seems like every film takes the historical approach. Id rather learn something about life the way Benjamin Button presents it. I mean, you see a man live out his entire life in an

My friends and I tried to do this the other night. We started with the commentary track on but Boll was talking the whole time about random shit, meanwhile what was going on onscreen looked insane. So we put the movie on, and after the first scene, it was just awful. Not even funny in a "look how bad this is" sort of
