If you like Mott the Hoople, but never really got into them then there is a chance that you get to hear this for the first time. Mott does their own very similar great version but:

I am not positive I know what that is, but immediately believe you.

Definitely 'Uncontrollable Urge'! I have a DEVO cd with me. B-52s are another band where the awesomeness of the 'novelty hit' Rock Lobster made the rest of the album discounted in collective memory. Example: 'Hero Worship'

'Spanish Bombs' would be the Clash track for me.

Genuinely curious too. Gayer then Abba's 'Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie' (A Man after Midnight)? Even when Erasure does it?

To paraphrase Frankie Boyle: 'since they refreshed the pound note it takes twice as long to crack one off.'

Not the need for independent electoral commissions meeting on set schedules for redistricting ?

but you often can judge magazines with sticky pages by their cover

I played a flashcard game with my old American boss, her husband and their rather bright grade 8 niece. She and I were at least close in our ability to name US States and former Presidents but I had the edge. Two intelligent American IT professionals left in the dust.

It does seem like there is an under-educated (and likely overworked) population that determined to protect the Constitution and Bill of Rights (which they don't even have a working knowledge of) and live by the Bible (which they haven't read).
In their need to survive, they allow others to read those sources for them

There is refreshing knowledge, and unlearning over simplification. Then there's not being able to find Iraq on a map or list its neighbours.

Canada has a bit of that too I think. Canadian History covers a bit, but I don't think quite enough.

My brother used to teach 1st year Poli Sci at a very hard to get into and ludicrously expensive school.
Before long he realised that it was pointless without a week or two of remedial geography. Kind of stuff you can't get out of Canadian middle school without knowing.

The Trinity Sessions is such as strong album

Real punk gets sushi and doesn't pay for it

I wonder if the counterpart in the UK PM talking to the Queen actually reduces those sort of shenanigans; sort of like Mitchell and Webb's "Little Old Lady Job Justification Hearings"

"I'm Batman!"

"Come back Shane….come back…"
