Holy moly, those early Rod solo albums are amazing. His early solo ouput, coupled with the Faces and those Jeff Beck albums are about as good as it gets. Who was the famous rock critic that said Rod Stewart betrayed his talent more than any rock musician in history? Total truth.

I've always preferred Allmans to Skynyrd (the ABB's 90s reinvention with Warren/Woody was pretty astounding), but I totally agree that "I Ain't The One" is among the best album openers of all time. I love a lot of Skynyrd, but I'm not sure they ever topped that first track, and you're right about it being the ultimate

Pudding is always delicious and you know it. Stop asking silly questions.

I certainly don't expect most people here to enjoy his music, but I do think it's worth noting that he's not just some one-hit wonder from the 80s. His career has been varied, frequently strange, and for the last 20 years or so, seemingly an aggressive attempt to make people forget about his first album. If nothing

I'm sure I'm the only one here, but I absolutely love Bruce Hornsby, and I'd say he's among the most talented and interesting American musicians of the last 20 years and desperately in need of critical reappraisal. If you really look at his 30-year career, and not just his handful of late-80s hits (which he disowns

I agree with you, but… millions? That seems a bit high for the comic relief in a modestly budgeted (by action movie standards) blow-em-up flick. Regardless, he is being well-compensated to wear that ridiculous hat. No doubt about that.

I know other have said the same, but I don't mind piling on because these types of responses completely befuddle me. We are NOT supposed to be rooting for any of these dudes. As the title explicitly states, these are all very bad people. Even Jesse, arguably our great humanist, shot an un-armed man in the face! That's

The whole interview is great, but the last few lines should be slapped on a T-shirt right below Fahey's grinning mug. I'd wear that shirt all the time. Also, has anyone better combined grizzled and beautiful than this dude? That beard! Those eyes!

Prior to getting super weird about body-building and weird dick stuff, Warren Cuccurullo put out one absolutely amazing instrumental rock record called "Thanks 2 Frank" with Vinnie Colaiuta on drums. It's worth seeking out, as is much of Mike Keneally's output, arguably the most Zappa-esque of Zappa's many former

"One Size Fits All" is definitely the one I come back to most often, and the one I would recommend most to new ears. It's also largely free of the scatalogical humor that defines so much of his work. I really admired all the dirty jokes and satire of Joe's Garage when I was in college, but now I just wish the whole

Like everyone involved with the film, I worked on "Blue Like Jazz" for a long time for basically no money. Having the AV Club give it such a positive review makes up for our underwhelming box office receipts. That being said, if you want to rent it or stream it (or even buy it!), that would make one of your fellow
