i think between the shape shifters changing dna and the universe merging machine, that these shape shifters are going to ultimately target peter so as to be able to use the machine like he can.  if you wanted to use that machine, and you're not peter, you basically need a dna shapeshifter to do it.

a dna shapeshifter copying peter could use the universe blending machine because it was tuned to peters dna.  maybe they could do a chrono trigger and time travel back to that moment and replace peter with a peter clone.  if they could find the egg thing, i mean.

wasn't there something in the second season about the machine being tuned to peters DNA?  and the new shape shifters can copy peters DNA?  if so, a shapeshifter copying peter could use that universe melting machine the same way peter could.

I definitely want to see more of that.
