I was expecting the guard or Observers to take Etta out during the drive back because we can't have our team be complete or so close to happiness.

I'm conflicted about this episode. On one hand, it's pretty bold to spend an episode based on the grief of losing someone and how everyone deals in their own way (something shows don't deal with realistically). On the other hand, spending a whole episode on grief and throwaway plots after last week's thrilling episode…

One thing that vexes me is the lack of interaction between Astrid and Olivia. They never converse (except when Olivia just got back and found out that Peter and Alt-Olivia were together). You would think they'd at least look at each other or exchange some pleasantries. Instead they seem intent on ignoring each other.

Speaking of clothes- was the flashback the first time we've ever seen summer in the Fringe 'verse? It seems our characters are perpetually stuck in fall/winter (not a complaint, because we get the awesome coats) when trying to save the world from dire circumstances. They get a brief taste of summer as a happy family…

I think Mal's snobbery was always a product of his affection for Inara. He considers her to be too good for the profession, but can't bring himself to say it, so he criticises Inara when she's companion-ing.
To him, Nandi is just a whore, a surrogate for Inara. In Mal's mind they're two distinct situations.
