Here I thought we'd all agreed that the American dream was dead and that social mobility in America for the vast majority of people is largely exaggerated and that at best we chase carrots dangled in front of us by none other than Death until at day's end He in one motion swipes away both the carrots and our heads

The Deer Hunter had a pretty similar bait-and-switch to Full Metal Jacket in the sense that once the war starts, shit gets crazy, as shit is wont to do during war. I liked how the movie starts with a big wedding and a pretty meditative deer hunt and then all of a sudden they're smack dab in the middle of utter chaos.

Yeah I mean I knew it was Haneke going in, so I knew it'd be at least a little brutal, but I definitely didn't expect the fourth-wall-breaking and feeling, like, personally responsible for the torture and murder of this family. The "this is what you wanted, isn't it?" vibe of the whole thing made me feel like a huge

Here I thought Funny Games was going to be about a pleasant upper-class German family playing some funny board games at their lake house for the weekend. Ha ha, some heavy metal over the title card! What a funny game! Can't wait to see what other funny games they play!

There is only one word that fits that bill, and that word is synergy.

Man, I hope you guys don't have a Jaguar account.

So what'd you think of the rest of American Beauty?

Speaking of Google image searches, my office mate told me to do a Google image search for "atari breakout" — TRY IT.

On the bright side, a really pretty girl messaged you. (Who cares if she was subsequently scared off by the photo of your dick you messaged her — better to weed those out early.)

I wonder how the non-headliners feel about being upstaged by dead people. Probably pretty good. I guess it's the future.

It's cool how side projects can give you context for the main band's music, especially when there are a couple different musical sensibilities going on in the main band.

I binged on Bing this past weekend.

Aw man, Matt Perry's homeless?

Yeah between Psycho and The Shining, bathing became a pretty scary experience.

When I was in elementary school I always used to go to my grandma's house with my (mostly older) cousins every summer, and for some reason we'd always end up watching scary-even-by-my-current-standards movies after my grandma had fallen asleep at like 8:30.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Still, I would've preferred something a bit more… ineffable.

It's funny how you can "miss" the Index. Like it only "occurs" between 12-3pm. Why? And it always ends at about 1600 comments. I ask again: Why? By what ineffable rules is the TI governed??

In all matters, between doing and not doing, I usually err on the side of not doing.
