Reviewers did not get a screener in advance of the last episode. Cut them a break.

Snuffleupagus' appearance was my favorite part.
That's entirely too much work for a mild buzz. I'll take my booze straight from the bottle (and pass on the pastries).
Although I'm sure the last line was meant in jest, just to reiterate: Splitting the season was *not* Weiner's choice, and he was miffed about it. That was an AMC decision in order to stretch out their last prestige show for another year, and give it a final, Breaking Bad-less run at the Emmys.
This is a minor nitpick from someone who fully intends to see the film, but why, with all of the older actresses desperate for a decent role in a prestige project, did Anderson cast a woman thirty years younger to play Madame D.? Especially given that Swinton already looks ten years younger than her actual age?
Well she certainly has Jane Wyman's hair.
I agree with you completely. I don't know if it is simply what they have on him, or that for Travolta, at age sixty, he's lugging different generational baggage to his fear of being revealed as gay and the "embarrassment" he thinks it would bring (if that's indeed all they have on him). Sort of a corollary (though I…
Supposedly, he wanted to leave after the death of his son, but the Co$ has too much dirt on him. In fact, if memory serves, I think some of the masseuse stories began leaking around the time word was that he *was* imminently going to quit.
But eyesight doesn't account for his 2013 butchering of "Lay Miserahblesssssssssssssssssss."
I'm still haunted by his pronunciation of Les Misérables.
It's not officially viewed as a cult in many countries. Chile is an exception (and may be the only one).
I believe that was Tom Cruise:
Dang, I should have scrolled farther down before posting the same question. You articulated the reasons much more thoroughly :)
What about Homer Simpson?
Yeah, I like her (and the show) but she's definitely overweight. It's not like she hasn't given us ample opportunities to observe that it isn't just poor wardrobe choices making her appear bigger than she is.
Judging by the presence of Zac Efron and several other people whose names I did not know, I believe you are correct.
They cut the audio beginning several years ago, because it was becoming an unseemly "applause-o-meter" competition.
I agree, having a live performance during the montage distracts from the montage. The cameras are always angling for the singer and half the time, who is being honored on screen is lost. Plus last night they used the "Somewhere in Time" music and one of those included was the writer of "Somewhere in Time," so it was…
This was the first Oscars where I ever gave serious consideration to turning it off and going to bed early. The lag between major awards, and what filled that time, was just unbearable.
Or "The Towering Inferno" because, well…
