You get into what you like sort of naturally, right? Maybe catching up with that back catalog of music or some old movies is more naturally enjoyable for you than seeking out old TV shows. For me my obsessions seem to slide around a little. Some months it's way more books than TV, movies, or music.

There's a weird alternate universe where this is a good show because it focuses on the family dynamics, with the consultancy stuff in the background, and Marty's conflict coming from how he reconciles his amoral, hypermasculine, cutthroat worklife with a softer family life. The family stuff is the most interesting

I enjoyed BSG, for the most part, for its whole run, and despite hating the last episode and the resolution, when it was good it was

I thought up to that point he'd been blind-folded the whole time - how did he even know Maggie was around to make that connection to make that comment? Is it because he recognized

Oh man, Battlestar. For all its fuckups and inconsistent quality, what a better show that was than TWD. I'll let Adama sum up TWD: "You guys can sit here and listen to this. I'm gonna go to the head. Do something constructive…a little project I've been working on.."

Yeah, hialrious, but wtf was up with that? I figure it was just a bad mix, or something.  Or maybe he had them up there for visual flavor but their instruments weren't miked?

I'm actually enjoying Spartacus a good deal more than Rome. I think it's got more strong characters - I feel Rome had a handful of strong characters and a bunch of half-baked ones.

That effects shot in this episode of Glaber looking out over Capua with the arena still smoking in the distance was pretty good, I thought. The effects stuff is definitely getting better.

"I will tear hole in sky with cock and fuck Jupiter's ear!"

That's the name of my metal band - Bloody Serpentine Vambrace.

Showrunner: "So I hear you guys have some notes?"

It took Fringe a while, though. Most of the first season was just kind of middling/mediocre. They were really trying to segregate their episodic plots and keep the mythology on the back burner, but it really wasn't working.

Anyone remember that ABC series with Taye Diggs? I think they might have been planning to make it a continuing series, but it ended up being a mildly enjoyable short 1-season, kind of a miniseries. I think the premise was the protagonist keeps living out the same day, Groundhog Day style. It got a little more

Everyone seems to forget Draco's forgotten younger brother, wizarding-world celebrity kid rapper, Luscious Malfoy.

Luckily, it seems like Castle shoves in only a couple of "mythology" episodes every season, and nearly every other episode is a standalone with some light soap continuity. It works out decently for the show, but, IIRC, Castle's "mythology" stuff is always so farfetched (even more than the cases-of-the-week) and not

I thought the stinger was going to be Dave having one of his own drinks and having a dream where he has sex with himself.

Alex and Dave have really turned out to be the lamest members of this circle of friends, except Dave kind of looks like a dope in addition to acting dopey. Not knocking the writing, it's just how the characters have solidified. In that respect they kind of belong together. They can be totally lame together.

Yeah, after subsequent shows ripped off the device from the UK Office (I don't know if it was the first TV comedy to use the pseudo-doc style, but I think it was the direct progenitor of the other recent shows to do so), they all dropped any implication of the actual existence of whatever hypothetical camera crew is

Looked pretty awkward to me!

@avclub-f5f4e71442d14e731bba118040c71f95:disqus I think the point others are making is that Adam's financial security vs. Crosby's Dream is a somewhat contrived choice…realistically there would have been other options, or a more realistic offer for the place would have made the choice to sell less tempting.
