I used to be a "fan" but after Tree of Life I just couldn't anymore. I wouldn't go so far as to call him pretentious because I think he thoroughly lacks that, but I do think he is extremely navel gazey.

1/2 way through it and its quite good almost a People History version of film history. It is dispiriting to hear that so much of the psychology of film is influenced or informed by Freud as he is largely considered as little more than a pseudo-scientist and was largely considered so a long time ago.

I can't really abide exorcism movies any more. Every year there is a real story of some terrible group of adults essentially torturing and murdering a child due to superstitious, and religious dogma. I think someone could make a truly effective horror movie from the point of view of a child being "exorcised". I can't…

In response to Andrew Ryan, they aren't heroes and its stated specifically at the beginning that these two guys were essentially henchmen who decided they would make their own destiney. They were bag men and by no means "heroes" they choose not to kill a pregnant woman but are there for the money.

I love Malick, but to me he has become to insular. I mean I love all kind of film and experimentation but Tree of Life just left me cold. Sure it was gorgeous but good god it was navel gazing clap trap.

Anybody else notice the shuttle from Hero's Duty was basically a sideways Arwing from starfox. Also really enjoyed the movie and yes that bit at the end was very shades of IG but not cheaply so, and it earned it.
