How's about The Secret of Roan Inish?
How's about The Secret of Roan Inish?
I think their goal with this list was more of the hard times and troubles than modern reality.
I completely forgot about 'I Went Down'. Nice one.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned this one, but Some Mother's Son was another depiction of the hunger strike more from the point of view of the parents and families of the strikers. Starring a very young Aidan Gillan as well as Fionnula Flanagan and Helen Mirren!
This definitely wasn't the greatest Who Charted? and Jensen Karp does not deserve the title of "best guest ever", but I thought the episode was interesting and listenable. I didn't get bored with all the hip-hop trivia, but then the period of time in rap that they were discussing was exactly the time I was a goofball…
@avclub-d4a5fd265c0725f7a4410c635a3bb269:disqus Sorry! I got burned myself reading another thread on here. But I have to say, any discussion that followed Panik's spoiler alert was probably going to be something you don't want to read if you aren't that far along in the story or are just watching the show. It's safe…
To some degree I think Melisandre is a little full of shit. I think she has some powers (murderous shadow baby powers), but I don't give her credit for deaths of kings other than Renly. Which is funny, because that's the only one she doesn't take credit for.
@avclub-e95a45d0b1f5afdf0ab9cde82b4b1d06:disqus how does Stannis get the rap for Robb and Cat? I know he was trying to work his magical hoodoo with the red priestess to get rid of his competitors, but I put the blame for the red wedding on the Freys and the Lannisters. Unless there's some future revelation I don't…
It was clear that something was about to go down. I think the most devastating part was Arya turning up just in time to witness it.
I'm about halfway through A Feast for Crows and I have to ask any other readers of the books
What Paradox Pumpkin said. When I read the first book after watching the series, I felt like I'd already read it since they pretty much hit all the major plot points. Now going into season 2, I'm just excited to see what I've read brought to life on the screen.
Oh, and before I forget: LISTEN TO PROFESSOR BLASTOFF!!!
CBB and Who Charted? were knocking it out of the park this week. Both had me laughing to tears. It was one of those weeks where you look at the guests as they download and know it's gonna be good.
I continued my quest to get through the Song of Ice and Fire books only because my coworker has read the first four, but can't afford the fifth, and I want to lord over him (none of these puns are intended, I swear) the stuff I know that happens like he's been doing to me since I got started. I'm halfway through book…
Dale told Lori that he suspected that Shane killed Otis, Lori decided his suspicions fit Shane's post-Otis behavior, Lori tells Rick…I don't even remember what Shane did when he returned from the school with the medical supplies that made Dale suspicious of what had happened there. I guess it's just that Dale has his…
I usually skip Mental Illness Happy Hour, choosing to listen mainly to comedy shows during my work week, but the episode with Jesse Perez made it into my playlist this week. I didn't identify so much with the whole LA gang member/heroin junkie side of his story, but I did relate to his discussion of his battle with…
tell that to Johnny 5
I don't think where they go necessarily has to be cold, just really isolated. Cold makes sense because the zombie's juices would freeze, but then you have to deal with heating and so on. And if it's Alaska, then you gotta deal with those 30 Days of Night Vampires and they are just the worst. Someplace in the…
He was. You are correct.
LISTEN TO PROFESSOR BLASTOFF. And check out 1/3 of the PB crew here…unless you can't handle some truth hanging out on the clothesline drying in your face-pants.
