I'm guessing your downvote is for 'technical skill', but you're right in your otherwise positive appraisal. The Beatles were very good musicians, but there are many better at all the instruments they played, so by definition, they aren't outliers in that area.

Exactly this. It's similar to the reasons why technically-based critiques of the McCoy era are largely lost on me.

I mean, you could do that, but if you're actually trying to build a case for Colin, why would you do that? Seasons 25 and 26 alone are more consistently good than anything since Season 18.

It wasn't until a recent rewatch w the kids that I realized Ricky/Jake isn't actually explicitly acknowledged, because hoo boy is there a thick layer of subtext going on.

Well, this is early Tennant. He isn't yet actively seeking out rain to stand in.

Making Toberman deaf could've made the character offensive in other ways, of course. And he is an uncomfortable character as is, but for the worst in 60's Who racism, see 'The Celestial Toymaker' (strangely remade as the Sherlock episode 'The Blind Banker').

Yeah, a Martha/Mickey romance wouldn't have fit CoE's tone at all but it's fascinating to hear that RTD was considering setting it up there. Now I'm wondering if there would've been a way to integrate it had Clarke and Agyeman been available.

All that's true, and the Troughton Cybermen stories I've seen (Tomb and Invasion) are certainly still in the 'very good' camp. But every appearance starting w 'Revenge' is seriously diminishing returns for them. What good bits there are in 'Earthshock' have nothing to do w Cybermen, for instance.

Yeah, 'delete!' made its debut here. Thankfully, it isn't part of their vocabulary any more.

The Web Planet. I'm serious as a heart attack.

oh, wonderful. The Toymaker. If he never returns, it'll be too soon.

So he's an independently wealthy dilettante. Absolutely an amateur when it comes to professionally producing competent television. Not a stretch at all.

okay, i hadn't heard a lot on his find. it would've been something if Enemy was part of the haul.

Yeah, it's tough. He obviously has done quite a bit to preserve the show's history (I think he just found episodes of Enemy of the World in Taiwan or something? Up until a few months ago that would've been quite the coup), but he has the unfortunate tendency to be an over-entitled bully who belittles anyone who

That just might redeem it for me. Hell, I think the right lapdance could redeem almost any old piece of shit.

I much prefer Load, too. when it's bad, it's terrible, but there are a handful of decent songs.

Eggs it LAUGHT! En tull NAUGHT!

It's gonna be John Stamos.

No, only that she kinda wanted to.
