I usually like Maureen Ryan, but her "this season is too depressing" criticism makes absolutely no sense to me.

I loved that shot of him walking away. It looked so unreal and yet cinematic. I felt like it equated his marriage with Megan to "actors on a film set". Now, back to real life/the bar.

Nah. It was a different actress playing bargirl.

I feel like Season 4's finale was far more controversial than this one. Some people were pretty pissed off that the big storyline (the agency possibly collapsing due to the loss of Lucky Strike) was resolved in one scene as well as the whole out-of-the-blue marriage proposal.

This was truly the ensemble's season. While Don's fall and rise was pretty amazing last season, this year Joan, Peggy, Pete, and Roger were far more interesting than him. I can think of a myriad of possibilities for those four characters, but I can't do that with Don. Miserable and single? Miserable and married? Where

Watch first season. Lizzy Caplan's boobs are contained to that year. If you enjoyed Season One, continue to Season Two, which features many gratuitous orgy sequences and a quite humorous 'Christian fundamentalist' storyline. Do not go past the second season.

Here's the difference. Season 1, 2, and 3's slow episodes were all more satisfying than Season 4's slow episodes. "Cancer Man" and "I.F.T." are both great episodes, while "Open House" feels like the most inessential episode of the series. (And I really like the "Jesse's party is a physical representation of his

Mad Men. Season 5 came together rather brilliantly. I'm actually feeling quite sad that it is ending. I won't just miss the show, but our ridiculous AV Club review comment sections.

People give too much weight to Glen's creepy Season One behavior. The actor didn't even have all of his teeth yet in that season.

I'm re-watching "A Little Kiss" and holy shit, the entire season is foreshadowed. Lane, at one point, tells the woman on the phone, "I'll be at this office for the rest of my life!" and then coughs out an awkward, sad laugh. Beth (Alexis Bledel's character) is name-checked within the first five minutes. Megan's friend

In the commentary for 'The Suitcase' (or an interview, I can't remember), Weiner points out that the episode is basically about the creative process. He then compares Peggy's relationship with Don to his relationship with David Chase on The Sopranos. I don't think the series is about writing the show, but all writers

I'm really enjoying these "end of season" wrap-up articles that the AV Club has started doing. I think its an interesting way for the writers to review the show as a season, as opposed to an episode, even if you're missing the final piece.
