I find the scenario you posit here quite plausible, but can't help wondering what happened to your vagina.

PS: One quibble: If memory serves, SNL's budget was cut for Doumanian's season because NBC didn't have to pay Doumanian as much as it had been paying Lorne Michaels, or Charles Rocket as much as it had been paying Bill Murray, etc. Jean had plenty of money to redecorate Michaels' office.

The byline is deleted from my screen for some odd reason, though I gather from some of the comments that a) it's not deleted from everyone's screen and b) the writer is Nathan Rabin. In any event, nice overview of an awful season.

He did, and then later explained that he'd been diagnosed with some life-threatening disease — supposedly turning himself into a muscle man was his redemption. Don't know whether that's true, because his attempts at a comeback showed he definitely had some very unfunny ideas about comedy, and maybe he just needed an…

@Evel Kareebel: Well, this is enormously self-serving, since I'm one of the co-authors, but "Saturday Night: A Backstage History of Saturday Night Live," by Doug Hill and Jeff Weingrad, will give you what you want for the first 10 years of the show, though not after. The book has recently been published in an ebook…

I agree with your basic sentiments, but not the specifics. Pretty much everything up to Beggar's Banquet is great, with the possible exception of Satanic Majesties. I know, "Between the Buttons," "Flowers," "December's Children" and "12X5" all have their weak spots, but all have plenty of wonderful stuff, too.…

Geez, I'm a long-time Stones fan (How long? You don't want to know) and I thought Marah Eakin's comments seemed on the mark. Funny, too. Especially liked this line: "The three-CD version of GRRR!, out Nov. 13, will contain 50 songs, two of which are brand new and thus markedly worse than the other 48."
