One of the top 5 albums of all time.

Odd that someone who respects words as much as Smith would leave the middle verse out of her cover of Neil's "After the Gold Rush." I guess she wanted to keep the focus strictly on the point that Mother Nature's on the run, then and now, but that middle verse serves as a bridge between the first verse's visionary

As I recall Jeremy Spencer got snapped up by one of those hippie born again cults on Sunset Blvd. and more or less disappeared. Wonder where he is now? He did some nice stuff on Kiln House.

I remember "Bare Trees" as a lovely album from the Welch era. "Kiln House" was a pre-Welch album I believe (I could be wrong) that has some nice stuff from Jeremy Spencer on it.

Dear Formerly: Sorry, didn't mean to be picky. Was glad you singled out that line, which is one of my favorites.

Speaking of minor personal connections, I interviewed Alan Horn a few times back in my show biz reporting days and he seemed a genuinely nice guy.

Just caught it recently on cable and had the same reaction: funny and odd in a pleasant way and (as the article here said) sort of like a Dylan song.

As I recall the line is "he could see THEM coming through the door," but "as he lifted up his fork" creates the image so perfectly….an amazing line, and a wonderful, if somewhat puzzling (given the person it's about), song.

Tom: S: Gotta disagree with you on Senor: It has one of the best opening lines in any song ever and is a great song overall. It's the performance that's subpar.

I've been following Dylan very closely for a very long time, and I gotta say, this is a superb overview. Well done.

Nice to see someone recognize a "Marilyn Miller piece."
