I really enjoyed both, but I'd have to agree.  If I had to choose one, I'd choose Miguel.

OMG, Red Tails was a fucking disaster.   Lucas fought to get it made, and I appreciate that, I really do.   Moreover, I appreciate that at least black actors are getting decent roles and an okay pay day.

I'm black, and not a big Tyler Perry fan (though I've had a few laughs here and there).  I'm not passionately against Perry by any means.   I simply don't like most of his work.   What enrages me about Perry really has nothing to do with Perry himself.   It's the fact that options for black audiences, who want to see

I thought RATM's entire catalog was great, not just the first album.   But, weirdly, I never have really talked with anyone about RATM.   I wasn't around people who listened to them or cared about them.  I had discovered them on my own and never really shared them with anyone.  I always listened to broad spectrum of

If you like or care about Arcade Fire.   Otherwise it's not anything.

I think it's a combination of having some very good music (even if the whole thing isn't mindblowing), being something truly different, at least in regards to what the media is marking as "R&B" or "Urban," and of course, Ocean's story regarding his sexuaity, which itself received a lot of press.  Channel Orange was

It's the like the nomination committee doesn't try at all.    They glance at a "Spin" magazine for rock/alternative, "Vibe" for R&B/hip-hop and "Rolling Stone" and look at Billboard stats to guage what's out there in terms of newer acts, and then augment whatever they find with completely predictable nominations of
