That was one movie I wish had stayed much closer to the source material. I would have been thrilled at a recreation of the original 4-issue Claremont/Miller mini-series.

He's by far the best character introduced in the movie, and arguably the best thing about the movie in general. I would have had no problem with Kelsey Grammar continuing the role in later movies, had it made sense to use the character.
It always seemed to me that the Trainspotting soundtrack was missing something by David Bowie. I was still in the middle of discovering his 70's catalog when the movie came out, and only in hindsight realized that Bowie is present (Perfect Day, Lust for Life), but never mentioned or explicitly represented. I know…
I remember being scared to death, walking to the front of the gymnasium to play Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer" on the piano in the 2nd grade talent show. I actually did really well, minus the fact that I played what must have been the fastest version of the piece ever performed, due to sheer nerves. I was…
Not me! I remember it. Well, a little, anyway….at least the fact that the only skull icon was on his knife.
I'm basically between the older Byrne fans (though I was picking that up via Classic X-Men and trades) and the younger cartoon fans—I saw the first couple before officially growing too old for it/ditching comics for awhile. It's weird how generational X-Men fans are. A span of ten years gave us very different things…
If you're limiting yourself to just 90's, well….my condolences. Although "Mutant Genesis", Claremont's swan song with the franchise, and the template for the 90's cartoon, is one of my favorites, and it qualifies. Other than that, there's lots to recommend in the 80's: Dark Phoenix, Days of Future Past, From the…
No, they don't. The screwed the pooch on X3, really. Up until then, they could have theoretically still had an "original 5" incarnation, etc. Since then, they've managed to make some decent, fun movies in First Class and DOFP, but it still seems like a pretty significant departure from the comics.
For all of the griping about the current franchise, they've managed to make several really fun movies. I thought DOFP was really good (though I haven't revisited it much since.) That said, I, too, would love to see Marvel take over/reboot the franchise. It would be great if someone were to map out, say, 5-6 movies,…
Old paper clips?
All told, that's not a half bad premise. And the opportunity to finally do Dark Phoenix right would be great.
Yeah, I was reading in the mid-late 80's through early 90's, but had abandoned them before AOA. I finally got around to reading AOA on the MU app a couple of years ago, but man, that art does suck. It might be a large part of the reason I just don't see the appeal that so many others do. Reading it 20 years too…
I wonder if the "can't make it too comic book-y" push on the first movie is what prompted them to use a different logo from the comic. Because I really dislike the movie one. I wish they would have used the classic 70's/80's one.
Well, I'll say that the Rhamadan download is only brought out on rare occasions. But I thought Bob Dylan Blues really showcased Barrett's knack for clever, melodic songwriting, before he lost his grip on reality.
A death mark's not an easy thing to live with.
Great song. One of my favorites on the recent Barrett compilation.
Don't festivals usually serve meat? Has he ever performed at festivals before?
I did think he might have regained his mind at the very end—I was actually kind of expecting him to have some kind of last word, or calling out to Bran at the very end, which would show the spell was broken.
Thus beginning Khaleesi's gradual move to democratic socialism.
Yeah. A coward wouldn't have stuck it out with a Stark, an obvious target for about 5 seasons.
