How could the same writing genius behind Walking Dead have failed to captivate us?

I hope someone is currently adding this as an illustrative example to a wikipedia entry on "fuck-you money".

Seems unfortunate that instead of teaming up with Wiig to write it, Feig (who doesn't have many writing credits to his name?) is paired with someone whose only writing experience is a smattering of Parks & Rec episodes?

Oh no, you read youtube comments? You poor dear, someone should have warned you. That's like, running-with-a-knife, not-looking-both-ways, staring-directly-at-an-eclipse-level Not A Good Idea.

Yet there was a pleasant sort of je-ne-sais-quoi about Duchovny delivering the line, "Give me back my friend, you giant sphincter!"

How did you pick a screen-grab for this from the one scene where Diane's not wearing a giant chain-link necklace?

Minor rewrite: "in which Ichabod Crane stops the apocalypse by fighting angry ghosts, at the behest of George Washington."

I hope they made some episodes that never got a chance to air. Just out of schadenfreude. Their show was bad and they should feel bad.

Yeah, it was a pretty good movie!

Luckily, the execs clearly read my comment on the last avclub story, in which I threatened to bail on the show if Flockhart didn't return. You're welcome, everybody! Thanks for listening, execs!

I guess I had a different read on their interaction. For example, several times when Young-hee would ask a family question and "Patty" would sort of sadly deflect it, I thought it was a smart tactic to get Young-hee making the effort to deepen their bond by gradually drawing Patty out. Maybe they were actually trying

It's funny, I actually had trouble with this episode. Especially after she endured all the Martha drama, and her stern speech to Paige, I wouldn't have thought the long vacation would allow Elizabeth to lose her commitment to the cause to this degree, no matter how much she likes her Mary Kay friend. All throughout

Could you please not put our marriages in scare quotes? Thanks.

That was lovely to read!

Maybe I'd have to watch again to pick this up, but my surprise was how Lucca (and Alicia I guess?) knew about the affair. That seems like something an investigator would have needed to dig up, but I can't picture Jason doing that while he's technically employed by Diane as well.

Yes, and it was a wake up call to the audience as well; it was arresting and really focused my attention on the last minute of the series. And then Alicia's long, evolving reaction shot to the end was rather captivating and somewhat effective as a canvas for imagining whether and how she will reinvent going forward.

All my feelings about that song are overwhelmed by annoyance at the pronunciation affectation on the word "better". It's part of the chorus and sung three times in a row each time, and it's always "bettew, bettew, better…"
So distracting. The fact that the last repetition is always pronounced normally makes it obvious

I wouldn't have thought so either, yet… here we are.

Hm, yeah, if they lose Flockhart, I'm done.
