I feel like I'm one of a tiny handful of people who don't love this film. There are snippets of this review that echo my dissatisfaction, in calling it somewhat "academic", and an homage to an oeuvre that smacks (unintentionally?) of camp. I guess I'm just not that interested in modern-day morality plays where the

I sense some disconnect here. I'm left wondering whether Emily and the other harsh critics here enjoyed the original film at all? As some charitable others have pointed out, this incarnation retains several of the elements that made The Omen appealing (and I did double-check that its rottentomatoes score was pretty

How is Kalinda's accent "implacable"?

Wait, no one's pointing out that Jason likes to watch real people getting mauled by lions? Repeatedly? It's going to be odd as hell when it goes down but they're dropping more hints about him being a high-functioning psychopath.

Enjoyable! But in a pretty dumb way this week.

Exactly! Thank you. I think the review should be more like "This succeeds (to some degree) as niche Wuxia cinema. It fails dismally as cinema. And let's not even talk about how it fares as a sequel."

30 Rock taught me "…man who's looking for a certain kind of bar."

Yes, and he executed it brilliantly.

I think it has improved, yes. I'm not enjoying it as much as its previous heights, but more than its lows. Basically I agree with the reviewer. God bless that chemistry between the two leads; without that it would definitely be a slog.

I"m going to assume that my being first to express this reaction is testament to my speedy cleverness rather than singular patheticness:

Same.

The trailer gives one the impression that this will be a direct-to-video production.

Wasn't there one (the first one?) in the 70s starring Carrie Fisher?

Wiig may have been competing in a game with slightly different rules. But she still won.

I just googled "Are Abbi and Ilana friends in real life" and then was too scared to peruse the results. I'm just going to assume they are and happily gallivant through my day.

My favorite part was the shouting so intensely about those slap sound effects: "IT TAKES A SECOND FOR IT TO WORK!"

This is all well and good, but you left out:

I remember that the show aired, and I remember really wanting great things to happen with it. But I also don't remember a single thing that happened in any of the episodes, or who any of the actors were. Maybe one week there was a bonfire for some reason?

Whatever AVclub's paying you, Teti, they should double it.

Personally I found Hathaway's White Queen rather memorable. Good comic timing and manneristic originality for entertainingly quirky dialogue.
