What's this I hear about an A+ embargo?
Is this a deliberate policy? BoBW part 1 *screams* for an A+. It's hard to think how, within the limitations and conventions of the time, it could be improved. I mean, the B story of the Riker-Shelby hostility wasn't the best thing ever, but still.

Get ready for this, RegisteredLoser:

P&R is a much better show.
I'm still bewildered by Community. People whose tastes I often agree with told me they liked it, but every time I try to watch it, it just seems bad. Like tonight's for example… what would have made that plot work would be if the "bitchy comment" jokes were actually creative and funny,

…and I don't even know whether it's laziness or just ignorance!

Dammit, the one thing I don't double check before posting…

BRAHMS
Regardless of the absurd fact that the piece Data's string *quartet* is playing during Sarek's crying jag is actually a string *sextet* by Brahms, and regardless of the fact that Spiner pretty much sucks at pretending to play the violin (it's rather distractingly bad in that scene), this scene picked perfect

Ninaface
Nina had an amazing series of facial expressions after Kors said, "He thinks if it's all the same color, that makes it a collection." It's the sort of parade of tilty-eyebrowed variations you'd typically see in someone watching a clumsy puppy trying to stand up on a slippery floor.

I thought for sure that Andy would be safe with Mondo, and the axe would be between Michael and Gretchen. Gretchen and the judges seems like a weird cognitive dissonance thing, where even now that they're consciously coming around to the fact of her bad taste, they're still unable to vote against her while voicing

When Andy was reacting backstage to his selection over Michael, he started saying, "I feel guilty…" and I assumed that he was going to feel guilty for relentlessly trashing Michael behind his back for the first 75% of the season. Nope. It's nice he feels guilt for taking a spot from Michael, but odd that he shows no

Lizism
"Well, it's been a rough day… but at least we're in Newark now."

For the longest time, I assumed Colossus was saying, "…the peace of *unvaried* death" (instead of "unburied death"). And I liked it better that way, I think. Anyway, best computer voice ever (sorry, Hawking). The start of the "world control" monologue was sampled in a great house/trance piece by someone I forgot.

Agreed. It's a bit hard to imagine how exactly they would destroy Colossus, but I'm sure they'll find a way. I'll see it anyway, with due respect to the original, because I adore the premise.

Forget tense, I want to see a review 100% in the subjunctive mood.

For what it's worth… the Nazgul weren't airborne until well after the ring had already made it to Rivendell.

Michael was clearly wearing the fake mustache to cover up his cold sore. True, he would totally wear a fake mustache for no reason, but his reaction when the glue failed showed us that he was definitely using it to hide his lip because of his embarrassment, thinking it was acne.

Wikipedia confirms for me that in fact, Gretchen won challenge one and challenge two. That's it. She rode that confidence boost the entire season.

After we saw Michael's dress in Tim's critique, there was a cut to Gretchen who was wearing a plain black top with exactly the same neckline (i.e., exactly the same dress). It looked like she stole the dress right off his form and slapped a belt on it.

Helene is Pam's mom, right? If I remember right, they didn't actually show us Michael telling her, but they explicitly showed us the conclusion of her reaction, which was the motherly advice that it would go away and he just shouldn't pick at it.

Michael's dress…
Agree 100% with John's assessment. It would have been utterly boring if not for the serious errors in design, which turned his model into a funerary xmas tree shape (except from the back, which made her look like a pale, fat goose hung up in a butcher shop). Maybe the effect in person is much
