at the risk of repeating somebody above, i think kenneth started out as a brilliant minor side character, but the more we see of him the less successful he is. the genius of kenneth is throw-away lines like, "i don't drink hot beverages of any kind. that's the devil's temperature!" (while the rest of his huge

i find it hard to compare a show with a laugh track (W&G) to one without (30 rock). like mr. forever mentioned above, the manic energy of 30 rock really enhances the experience, whereas mania is impossible to maintain when you have to pause after every single punchline.

oh, but the characters are all so weak now, it's impossible to care about any of them! it's not enough that it "has a story" if that story isn't interesting. i was not only not entertained, i found it really hard to imagine how anybody else could be.

simpsons grade inflation?
ok, i know i'll get flak from people accusing me of being a typical hipster simspons-hater, and i know that humor and grading are both inherently subjective, but… it still seems like the shows are graded on different curves.

to respond to just one of the plausibility comments above, i'm willing to believe that for the super-rich, springing for a doll instead of a very good actor is something that would actually happen. even if you could find a good enough actor that their behavior were indistinguishable from an imprinted doll, you'd

as a gay man…
it confuses me watching victor inhabited by kiki and trying to decide whether i'd hit that.

stretching believability…
one thing i've enjoyed, as a neuroscience geek, is how with just a little bit of generous apologetics, the dollhouse concept is pretty believable; that is, it allows me to suspend disbelief, because i can explain away whatever seems at first glance to be too implausible.

adele just adores Chaucer.

interesting. i thought he was terrible until he did a brilliant job of being imprinted with dominic after they'd sent him to the attic. since then i've been consistently impressed, but i hated him as the russian and all the other early assignments (much like i still find sierra).

oops, freudian typo? i meant "unambiguously *bad* taste."

i'm simply incredulous that anyone thinks the show, even by the weakest comparison, is still in any way "good." i instantly judge such people as having unambiguously good taste or exceptional capacity for self-delusion. this is not bias. it may be subjective, but that doesn't mean it's biased.

i remember trying to convince my parents to let us watch the simpsons during dinner one night. it was the episode where bart's inner monologue is him urging himself to make a suave first impression on the new older neighbor girl by saying something cool, and then what he actually says is, "i fell on my bottom." my

maybe he's like me in that he tunes in every now and then just to check whether it's gotten any better, or watches when he can't get to sleep.

i think i'm being quite objective about my analysis. the simpsons completely sucks. true, part of *how much* it sucks is because of how it's squandered the goodwill it accumulated during its first decade. also true, the occasional modern episode is better than getting hit by a brick in the head. however, the

Anonny2, you must have missed the conversation between the client and dewitt that explained the entire episode. they apparently agree that bonding with a parent is crucially important during the first formative months. this guy wasn't able to bond with his son, but still wanted his son to have every advantage in

this episode and review really clarified something for me.
i detest the word "wipe."

you had arthritis?

3 things
1) so, so tired of parkman. really, really tired. also, i can't remember why he decided to completely give up his ability in the first place, especially in cases where it could clearly help innocent people. just to give sylar something to do, i guess.

happy to see this thread. i ragged on Dushku's acting chops throughout all last season (along with whoever plays sierra, and whoever plays victor until he got to portray de-attic-ed dominic temporarily implanted in victor's body). much like snugglesaurus, i hypothesized that she was born to play faith (having done a

i personally experience my own hipster backlash at liking something that's so popular. grrrr.
